In fact what you describe is documented:
- see User Manual, Server Installation (Windows only).

It is useful for making 'Undoable' changes/additions to
a BlackBox installation. What I wanted was a new
'Virgin' installation to mimic what a new user might
see.

Anyway no long term harm done, and I learned something that has
long mystified me in Windows. On some computers if I double-click
on a BlackBox file it opens it into the currently open copy
of BlackBox; sometimes into a new (second or third ...) copy.

On my machine it puts .osf files into the current copy, .odc files
into a new copy.

I changed the .odc open command
(Explorer->View->Options->File Types->Edit->Action open->Edit)
from

  C:\BlackBox\BlackBox.exe

to

  C:\BlackBox\BlackBox.exe/o "%1"

and it now opens .odc files into the current copy.

This is all black magic to me, but someone might find it useful.

This leaves two further Windows (NT) mysteries:

1) Sometimes the doubled-clicked on file has its own name
such as (Form)Controllers, sometimes it has some horrible
DOS name such as CONTR%56q.

2) Sometimes BlackBox opens, but the file is not there.

Robert
