Dear Chris,
I'm sorry, you didn't understand me. Personally I don't use Windows 98. I would like to use Unicode everywhere inside BlackBox, but I can't. OM discards my change request about full Unicode support with the following three arguments:
1. Windows 98 doesn't support Unicode
2. BlackBox must be useable with Windows 98.
3. A lot of people use Windows 98, because they have old computers.
Some questions:
1. How many people are using BlackBox?
2. How many people are using BlackBox with Windows 98?
I received some tips via this mailing list how to change BlackBox. I won't depend with my programs on such big personal change of the original BlackBox.
I would like to have fully Unicode support inside BlackBox include string constant and forms with Windows XP. You need it also for Russian characters, Mathematics characters and a lot of other tasks.
The current Russian system uses Codepage, which maps there characters to the upper ASCII set. They use a modified version of BlackBox and maps their characters via the file National.odc to the upper ASCII set. In my opinion that is the wrong way. Currently they can't use Unicode, because it is not fully supported by BlackBox. It is the biggest drawback of BlackBox.
Regards
Helmut Zinn

Has anybody investigated using 'The Microsoft Layer for Unicode on
Windows 95/98/Me Systems'?
http://www.microsoft.com/globaldev/handson/dev/mslu_announce.mspx
I've heard that is not the 'silver bullet' solution to all Unicode
issues but might be worth a look.
How many people using BlackBox on this list still actively use BlackBox
on Windows 98? Microsoft stopped supporting Windows Me, 98 and all
earlier versions in July of this year:
