horrorizado ...
but to summarize the two german mails (sorry for them,
"denn sie wissen nicht was sie tun" :-)
Bernhard,
I am not sure if the last sentence (the one in german) talks about the two
authors of "the german" posts or about the author of the joke :-)
Anyway, before someone else posts another international "joke" he/she may try
http://babel.altavista.com/translate.dyn first. It's neither Shakespeare not
Heine, but it might help.

I have not heard of Gardens Point. Can you give us a URL?

I am greatly in favor of this. Anything we can do to promote
the system is good. I wish we had a critical mass of users
to have an active BBUG.

Hello all,
I am pleased to announce the latest revision of the BlackBox
Tutorial and the accompanying educational software. For those
familiar with the previous versions, there are many
improvements:
* New version comes with Preface and Table of Contents.
* Several chapters reordered to improve flow of presentation.
* All incomplete sections scattered throughout previous versions
are now complete.
* Two new, complete chapters on object-oriented concepts (Chapters
23 and 24).
* Many small improvements throughout based on class experience.
* 596 pages total.
The manuscript and accompanying software is now stable for at
least the next year. No more rolling updates on a chapter-by-
chapter basis.
Availability
------------
The materials are available at
ftp://ftp.pepperdine.edu/pub/compsci/prog-bbox/
Note that the URL begins with ftp:// and not the usual http://
The manuscript is in PDF format, one file per chapter, and
the software is in the standard BlackBox encoding. I am planning
a hardcopy print run for my class this year--spiral bound, plastic
cover. If you are interested in hardcopy (approximately $40US)
you can let me know and I will make extra copies. However, if
you want large quantities as opposed to individual copies I
must know soon--within the next day or two. As usual, you are
free to copy and distribute on your own.
Here are the chapter titles:
Programming with BlackBox
-------------------------
Chapter 1, The BlackBox Framework
Chapter 2, Languages and Grammars
Chapter 3, Modules and Interfaces
Chapter 4, Variables
Chapter 5, Dialog Boxes
Chapter 6, Selection
Chapter 7, Abstract Stacks and Lists
Chapter 8, Nested Selections
Chapter 9, The MVC Design Pattern
Chapter 10, Loops
Chapter 11, Nested Loops
Chapter 12, Proper Procedures
Chapter 13, Function Procedures
Chapter 14, Random Numbers
Chapter 15, One-Dimensional Arrays
Chapter 16, Iterative Searching and Sorting
Chapter 17, Stack and List Implementations
Chapter 18, Two-Dimensional Arrays
Chapter 19, Recursion
Chapter 20, Recursive Searching and Sorting
Chapter 21, Linked Lists
Chapter 22, Binary Trees
Chapter 23, Inheritance and Polymorphism
Chapter 24, The State Design Pattern
Appendix A, Component Pascal Syntax
Enjoy!
