BBUG

Folks,

I spoke with Wolfgang Weck about setting up a repository for software developed in
Component Pascal and controled by the BlackBox Users Group (BBUG), i.e. us. My view
is that Oberon Microsystems provide the links and we provide the software and
a review process (optional).

Here are Wolfgang's comments:

"We had a discussion about this at the Developers Meeting in early September. ...
The proposal was that we would put up a page listing references to software available on the
web somewhere. Providers of components would be responsible for notifying us about changes and send
the necessary information in some format we still have to decide on. We would not provide any
quality control nor host actual distribution pages; just the directory. I hope that we will be able
to work on that before the end of this year."

I would be most interested in hearing from BlackBox developers. I frequently feel I am
reinventing the wheel in the code I write and would think that the essence of
component development is in the sharing of extensible software.

What do you all think?
(I'm about to write some image processing software or convert from other Oberon code)

-Doug
