Oleg, Doug, All

I've changed my mind!

On thinking about it converting images would be very useful.

And how hard can it be to write a few lines of RTF? (Actually, very.
The MS documentation is dreadful! But I got lucky with some pure gueswork).

Anyway I expect to be able to publish a version of RtfConv that will convert
arbitrary BlackBox Views into Bitmaps, and encode them as RTF that Wordpad will
cleanly read soon.

They will paste into Word ok, but not as well as Wordpad.

Going the other way is MUCH harder. Word and Wordpad don't use the RTF Bitmap
mechanism directly, they encode the Bitmaps into metafiles.

A quote from the RTF specification:

"For best device-independence and interoperability with Microsoft products,
however, use of the \wbitmap and \dibitmap control words is discouraged. Rather,
bitmaps should be embedded within Windows metafiles and the \wmetafile control
word used. For more information on embedding bitmaps within metafiles, see
Volume 1 and Volume 2 of the Programmer's Reference in the Microsoft Windows 3.1
Software Development Kit."

This really is a layer of unnecessary complexity too far.

Cheers

Robert
