For instance, I don't think that a standard webspace without anything would do any good. We need a forum. Either the host provides the software we need, or we have to have a dedicated server so that we can install our own software. A couple of years ago I investigated a number of forum systems and eventually chose phpBB. https://www.phpbb.com/ I have been using it for a couple of years for the Astrobe forum: http://www.astrobe.com/forum Apart from the usual forum features my requirements included: * Easily post code snippets with original indentation * The user can specify which sections / topics they want to receive notifications for * Ability to post screenshots and files as attachments * Good spam blocking features (registrations and messages). The Astrobe forum is currently detecting and rejecting about 100 spam registration attempts a week and not a single spam message has got through. It took a day or so to setup the forum and requires an hour or two a week to maintain it.
