[BLACKBOX] can NEW return NIL?

Moi BlackBox community,

Is it possible for the NEW function to return a NIL pointer. I think this happened after allocating about 900MB of heap. I have been able to allocate more heap, around 1.5GB, so the problem is not that there is no more RAM. Maybe it is something to do with the number of objects on the heap.
