[BLACKBOX] LaTeX for BlackBox ?

Folks

I have often wanted the ability to type a line of ASCII into a BlackBox
document, do one click, and have a View of a Bitmap of a nicely typeset
mathematical equation.

It seems to me that most of the pieces to do this actually exist:

1 - I know how to write a 'Fold' variant to switch between a Text segment and a
View.

2 - Bitmap View types exist; for example CpcBitmaps.View. These can be
efficiently saved to disc using CpcCompressors & Pac.

3 - GIF images can be read from disc into BlackBox using FreeImage. I have code
that will convert them into CpcBitmaps.Views (or HostBitmaps.StdViews).

4 - Programs exist that will read a file containing a line of LaTeX source, and
use TeX to create a GIF file of the rendered equation.
See, for example, GladTeX (http://www.myphysicslab.com/gladtex.html). There are
other packages that do something similar, and may be easier to use?


Is anyone else interested in such a capability, and is prepared to assist in
such a project? I would hope it is not a very big project (if it is, I shall
give up!). I feel reasonably confident about the BlackBox side of things, but
would want help from someone with a stronger C/Unix/Windows background than I have.

As an example the GladTeX installation instructions say "Get the two files ...
and put them somewhere that can be found by the Windows command line". If
someone who knew what that actually meant was helping with this project that
would be a big step forward.
