Although everyone probably likes some of his programming tasks being
supported "better", i. e. easier, I dare say most of the additional
features resulting from such desires are not worth the effort.
They are nice to have gimmicks - but every single of them add complexity
to a system. You probably know the fact, that more than 90 % of the big
text processing software not only are unused by the great majority of
users, these features even aren't known to them. Those few of course using
one or the other of these specialties believe them to be obligatory and
they might tell you they couldn't do without any single of their
favourites.
But on the other side the effect of this mass of possibilities is that
"normal" users are overwhelmed and as a reflex they don't even try to find
out which of the capabilities available might be useful to them,
potentially ending up with less profit from such a big tool than from a
smaller but better to understand system.
With respect to complexity: I did programming with different java systems,
have some experience with delphi and tried C# on visual studio, I tried as
well GPCP on eclipse - and here is my conclusion: BlackBox for me is by
far the easiest to handle of all these platforms regardles of the language
although of course not independent of it.
If someone really knows how to "make it simpler" without compromising
elegance, effectiveness and usefulness we all surely will appreciate this,
but please do so only if it is a real advantage.
Doing things different is easy, doing them better is the hard stuff.
Cheers
Harro
