I agree that these disadvantages are bad, but I disagree in that I do
believe these disadvantages WILL be remedied, once there are ports to
other platforms. The basic need of any OpenSource project is "manpower".
People who can develop new things in their spare time, and people who
can test them in their spare time. The more people involved, the more
work is done. By opening up new platforms, there will be more people,
thus more work can be done.
Now, of course this doesn't mean that everybody should contribute to
ports only, until we have a "critical mass" of people, but rather that
everybody should work on the contribution he wants to do, but there need
to be also people who do ports.
