Some years ago I tried to add a module to Subsystem Algebra to implement
64-bit floating point INTERVAL arithmetic. It was based on some clever
papers published by Sun to exploit IEEE NaN's.
I never finished it; part of the problem was that the Component Pascal
compiler was never written to handle NaNs. I can't remember now exactly
why I gave up!
But the first few routines show how to set/read the FPU Control mask,
and the attached (small) docu is/may be helpful.
It is worth noting that as BBox uses the FPU for 64-bit INTEGERs it
will reset the FPU mask at times that might at first seem surprising.
