I agree with you that BB API requires getting used to. But there is a
reason for such an API. It provides a very rigid framework which helps in
development of robust software.

I am now developing a web-based interface under Linux without a rigid API.
I have to modify a C program in several places at once. It is one
executable composed of several pieces. There is no consistency checking
between these pieces. If I do something wrong, I get segviols or strange
behavior which is impossible to understand.

My only tool is diligence. I wish the compiler would do the work. I wish I
had a rigid API for my embedded work.

I am not using gdb because in my opinion gdb is not a good substitute for
knowing what one is doing.
