I am not expert in this subject, so please be tolerant if I have it all wrong!

1 - I think that people are complaining that Modules cannot 'own' more than
about 300 MByte of Global Static memory - maybe I have not read the
correspondence carefully?

2 - I believe that Modules can allocate (with NEW) circa 1.6 GByte of Heap memory.

3 - In the days of BlackBox 1.2 there was a limit of about 300 - 400 MByte of
Heap memory that could be allocated which caused me problems.

4 - After discussions with Oms (Wolfgang Weck in particular, if I remember) they
agreed to increase the heap limit to 1.6 GByte. They did not want to go right up
to the 2 GByte limit to allow space for the stack, local variables, code, and
whatever.

5 - The enlarged heap allowance came in with BlackBox 1.3.

6 - I am running BBox under Windows XP64 on a machine with 8 GByte of physical
RAM, and the fact that I can't use it is my biggest criticism of BBox!

If the above story is correct, and relevant, that could be the explanation; the
virtual addresses are reserved for potential heap use.

Cheers

Robert
