Dear Helmut!

You write "Why don't we write them and share our result? Look at Linux. It
works. Can't we do it in the same way?"
You can not compare this two systems. I can get Linux and software for it at
every time. Where can I get full last version of BB?
I like Wirth languages very much. I consider that no other such beatiful in
austerity PL. But where is advertising of Wirth ideas? Descendants of Pascal
have very interesting results but who knows about it? Situation is very
heavy. Somebody (may be Wirth himself) said that Pascal was created for
education purposes only. It was mistake I think. Millions of programmers
began to consider Pascal as a language of starting level. They didn't want
to know about serious system built on Pascal (or it's descendants). The
greate part of programer world has took any news about Modula, Modula-2,
Oberon, Oberon-2, Component Pascal, Juice as just the new programming
exercises of Wirth and his command.
It's very SAD SITUATION!
I have Native Oberon on my second computer (486/100, RAM:32M, HD:504M,
S3Trio64+, SB). The System itself occupies only 14M. It includes al that I
have in other modern OS (may be without "explicit multiprocessing"). But It
works! It works fun without hundreds Mb of dead code lying on HD. My friends
donn't believe my when I tell them about Oberon at first time.
It's very difficult to work with Oberon in the begining. But these
difficulties do not raise from difficulties of the language or ideas of the
system. I think that the majority of programers are just accustomed to think
in C/C++ and UNIX way. They can not to imagine another world. Tei is one
tiny example... And what is more - our universities and industry continue to
produce yet another programers thinking the same way. Such a state of
affairs brakes our moving to component and object world.

Helmut, you write "It isn't the task of Oberon Microsystems to provide them
all."
May be... But where their site to populate BB itself and components for it
(and for us :o))? Several links to some sites is not enough! I cann't to
exchange my ideas or ask question with other people. Why such places is not
located at www.oberon.ch??????????? Where are success stories of Component
Pascal? Where is the list of tested component sets and libraries? Where can
I send my new components for BB to? I DO NOT WANT TO SEARCH SUCH PLACES
ASIDE!!! I know about Swiss team and their site. I want to find necessary
information there (www.oberon.ch)!!! .Net implementation of CP,
ActiveOberon, Lightning Oberon? - let them be where they are! But I usually
type www.oberon.ch to know something new about my favorite programming
language!

Best wishes!!!

Wlad.
